Samantha Smith joined PDP in August 2022 as a Preservation Intern. She holds a Master of Science in Historic Preservation from Tulane University and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Cincinnati. As part of her education, Samantha spent a semester in the Czech Republic at Charles University in Prague where her interest in history, architecture, and preservation grew.

Prior to joining PDP, Samantha spent many years working in the historic neighborhood of Over-the-Rhine in Cincinnati, OH. She was the Operations Manager for the Over-the-Rhine Foundation, a preservation foundation that focuses on preserving, protecting, and celebrating the historic OTR neighborhood. She also got to know the neighborhood through large-scale surveys and documentation of apartment buildings for a local developer. Her Masters final project examined different documentation methods currently employed in the preservation field while working on producing HABS drawings for various outbuildings found in and around Natchez, MS. Samantha is a member of Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society, National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the Association for Preservation Technology, Delaware Valley Chapter. Samantha is currently working on the Comprehensive Renovation of the Kentucky State Capitol as part of the documentation team.
